Before the West Bengal assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gave the ruling Trinamool Congress another big blow. TMC MLA Arindam Bhattacharya joined BJP on Wednesday. Last month, several big TMC leaders, including Shubhendu Adhikari, joined the BJP. Then Home Minister and former BJP President Amit Shah had claimed that Mamata Banerjee would remain the party till the elections are over.
Arindam Bhattacharya, an MLA from Santipur in Nadia, had reached the assembly by winning the last assembly election on a Congress ticket, but later joined the TMC. Arindam inducted BJP in the presence of other leaders including BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya in New Delhi. During this, he said, “I won on the Congress election mark but supported TMC that development would happen, but it was not done.” ”
